This guide walks you through everything you need to get started with Soundverter Desktop — from installation to your first conversion to advanced settings. Whether you are on Mac or Windows, the process takes under a minute and your existing account works immediately.
downloadStep 1: Installation
Visit the Soundverter download page and select the installer for your operating system. The app is available for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows (64-bit).
macOS
Download the .dmg file, open it, and drag Soundverter to your Applications folder. On first launch, macOS may ask you to confirm since the app is from an identified developer outside the App Store.
Windows
Run the .exe installer and follow the setup wizard. The app installs in seconds and creates a desktop shortcut automatically.
On first launch, the app will prompt you to accept the Terms of Service and optionally download a required audio processing component. This is a one-time setup.
play_circleStep 2: Your First Conversion
Once installed, sign in with your Soundverter account (or create one). Then converting audio is three steps:
Paste a URL
Copy a link from SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube Music, or Apple Music and paste it into the input field.
Choose Your Format
Select MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, or M4A from the format picker. Each format shows whether it is lossy or lossless so you can make an informed choice.
Hit Convert
Click the Convert button. The app processes the audio locally and saves the file to your output folder with full metadata and cover art embedded.
tuneChoosing the Right Format
The best format depends on your use case. Here is a quick reference:
Best for everyday listening and maximum compatibility. Up to 320kbps. Plays on every device and player.
Lossless compression — smaller than WAV with no quality loss. Ideal for archiving and audiophile playback.
Uncompressed audio. Best for DJ software (Rekordbox, Serato) and production workflows where quality is paramount.
Great quality at smaller file sizes. Native to Apple devices and iTunes. M4A is the container, AAC is the codec.
playlist_playPlaylist Conversion
One of the most requested features — paste a SoundCloud playlist URL and the desktop app will process every track in the playlist sequentially. Each file is saved individually with its own metadata, cover art, and proper file naming. You can monitor progress in the conversion queue panel.
Pro Tip
Set your default output folder to your DJ software's watch folder (e.g., Rekordbox's auto-import directory). New conversions will appear in your library automatically.
